The table below shows the cost of public transport in Barcelona, which is increasing every year. Prices are current for 2022.

Zones
For tourists, it is most convenient to buy a T10 card with 10 trips, not only are they cheaper, but when using such tickets, you can make 3 free transfers to different types of transport! You cannot make transfers with a ticket for 2 €.
Please note that the above ticket prices only apply to travel in zone 1, i.e. in the central part of Barcelona. Below you can look at the map of Barcelona’s zones and suburbs, there are 6 of them in total. To travel from one zone to any another, you need to purchase tickets at a certain price, which you will find out at the ticket office or in the machine. I am posting a small list of popular resorts and the number of the zone to which the city belongs. The Zone 3: Mataro, Sitges; Zone 4: Calella, Pineda de Mar, Vilanova I la Geltru; Zone 5: Blanes, Santa Susanna, Cunit, Calafell. The T10 card can be purchase in different variants from 1 to 6 tariff zones.

Where to buy tickets
It is better to buy tickets for public transport in advance. Below I will list the points of sale of tickets, where you can always buy tickets.

- 2-At metro stations (at ticket offices or ticket vending machines), vending machines accept bills and coins;
- 3-At Bank Servicaixa;
- 4-At newspaper and tobacco kiosks;
- 5-On the Iris Ticketing website.
This is the ticket for 10 trips – the most popular among tourists.
Where to validate the ticket
After buying a ticket, you need to validate it, in buses and trams the punchers are inside the transport, and in the metro at the entrance in front of the turnstiles.
Penalty for travel without a ticket
The penalty for travel without a ticket in Barcelona transport is 100 €, and you are given 30 days to pay the fine, if you do not pay it within 30 days, the fine rises to 600 €. If you pay locally, you get a 50% discount when paying the fine.

Barcelona Metro
The Barcelona metro (Metro de Barcelona) consists of 8 lines, the number of stations is 163, the length of all lines is 123 km. The metro can found by seeing a red diamond on the street with an “M” inside. 33 stations connect several branches to each other. And 9 of them also connected to the railway network, i.e. Arriving by train from the resort towns of Calella, Blanes, Pineda de Mar, Santa Susanna, you can immediately find yourself in the metro.
Barcelona has eight metro lines operated by TMB, which are easily identifiable by line number and color. When you find yourself on the platform and see an approaching train, its windshield indicates the final metro station to which it follows. Below is a list of metro lines with an indication of the end stations. The average distance between stations is 650 meters. Each station equipped with escalators, elevators. Or simple staircases.

When changing from the TMB line to the FGC line (and vice versa), you need to exit and enter through another turnstile. If you have a one-time ticket, you will have to purchase a new one. If you are using reusable tickets (for example, a T10 ticket for 10 trips). You will not be charged an additional charge for a transfer, as one ticket is valid for 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time it stamped. The T10 ticket allows 10 trips, each of which can last no more than 1 hour 15 minutes.

Buses in Barcelona

Tram in Barcelona
All tram lines in Barcelona connect the outskirts of the city to the center. There are 2 tram systems in the city: Trambesos and Trambaix. Trambesos includes lines T4, T5, and T6, Trambaix, lines with T1, T2, and T3. Trambaix lines T1, T2, and T3 connect the Baix Llobregat area with Barcelona, trams arrive at the Plaça Francesc Macià terminus. Trambaix uses Alstom light rail trams. Funiculars in Barcelona
There are 3 funiculars operating in Barcelona to the delight of tourists.
The Montjuïc Funicular (Teleférico de Montjuïc) is the most famous funicular in Barcelona, connecting the Parallel metro station with the famous Montjuïc mountain (Parc de Montjuïc). This funicular represented on the maps as part of the Barcelona metro. In 2 minutes of the way, the funicular overcomes 752 meters, rising to a height of 84 meters. For the funicular, you need to buy separate tickets, for the funicular to Montjuic, a ticket costs 7.30 € one way, and both sides 10.30 €.
The Vallvidrera funicular is located in the area of the same name in Barcelona and connects the Peu de Funicular railway station on the Metro del Vallès line with the top of the Tibidabo hill. Path length – 729 meters, height – 165 meters.
Funicular Tibidabo (Tibidabo funicular) – the oldest funicular in Barcelona, opened in 1901, and the longest – 1152 meters. The Tibidabo funicular connects the top of Tibidabo Hill with Plaça del Doctor Andreu, where the old Blue Tram stops.
Taxi in Barcelona
Taxis are part of the Barcelona transport system. Taxis can run on dedicated bus lanes, so don’t be afraid to use taxi services, just take into account a few nuances:
- Most taxis can only order in Spanish and English.
- When calculating, the amount called by the taxi driver must match the amount on the meter. You will also give a check and change.
- It is better to sit in a taxi in places specially designated for a taxi stand with a corresponding TAXI sign.

- Tipping encouraged but not required. If you want to tip the taxi driver, give 5% – 10% of the trip cost.
