The Capital of Kentucky is Frankfurt. Frankfort is known as the sole county seat of Franklin County. The city is located along the Kentucky River. In the east-central United States, between the Appalachians to the east and the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi to the west. This state is bounded to the north by Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, to the west by Missouri, to the south by Tennessee, to the east by Virginia and West Virginia. The state capital is Frankfurt. The state of Kentucky derives its name from the Iroquois word Ken-tah-ten meaning “land of tomorrow”.
