One of the city’s attractions is the local resort complex of 7 boarding houses and sanatoriums, which does not have a star rating, although in fact the level of service corresponds to a good 3-4 stars hotel. It can be very difficult to book a place in such a club hotel and you need to act in advance, but in the city and the surrounding area there are many good places to stay, where you can come even with a baby.
If you can’t find a decent hotel for your children, or if your budget is very limited, you can always find a private apartment or room.
Pitsunda, which is actively being built up in 2021, cannot yet offer discerning tourists a choice of five-star premium hotels. Here, in any case, you will have to settle for more modest options like a guest house, a three-star hotel or a classic holiday home, opinions about which on top hotels and tourist forums are not always objective. Nevertheless, in many places there is all-inclusive food and animation, and heated pools, and children’s clubs, and also almost always the hosts organize transfers from the airport or train station.

Kiparis Hostel
One of the few hostels in Abkhazia, where it is not scary to come with children, because this is a real family hotel, where they try to foresee any difficulties with young guests. The hotel is new, by the season of 2021 it has been operating for only 6 years – accordingly, the furniture and appliances are in perfect condition. A cot is provided for babies. One caveat – there are no TVs in the rooms, but there is an opportunity to join the general viewing in the dining area. Cleaning is high quality and fast. The young staff strives to do their job responsibly, for which they receive numerous accolades from tourists.
The hostess cooks in the dining room, and many people note her talent and the quality of the dishes prepared. The cuisine is homemade with elements of national. For kids there is the possibility of ordering individual dishes by prior arrangement. The owners carefully monitor the cleanliness of the kitchen and products, so there have never been any poisoning or sickness from the guests. Guests can order meals at will or pay for “all inclusive”.
The territory is quite small, but quite cozy: there is a lot of greenery, there is a parking lot, gazebos, a grill and barbecue area, and various fruit trees also grow.
Small pebble beach, located on the edge of a pine grove, just 50 meters from the hostel. The entrance is shallow, the water is clean. Unfortunately, sun loungers and umbrellas are not offered here, but when the sun begins to bake, tourists move to the shade of the trees.
Irene
Not a bad budget hotel by the sea, recommended for families and consisting of 2 five-storey buildings without an elevator. Another drawback is the poor sound insulation of the rooms. The rest is on the level. The rooms are clean, bright, although there are complaints about the maids, but when you contact them directly, all conflicts are resolved with lightning speed. Children are accepted of any age, even babies, but always with a separate bed.
A little tip: when booking, you should choose corner rooms, since they have 2 balconies, and better in 1 building, the guests of which visit the dining room earlier on schedule.
The hotel offers a full board of Abkhaz cuisine, but there is also European food familiar to children. The menu is dominated by seasonal vegetables and fruits, meat and dairy dishes, cheeses, which are popular here.
The territory is relatively large, there is no usual pool here, but guests will not get bored: there is a summer cafe, bike rental and free wi-fi. Internet speed is unstable, although it is enough for checking mail and reading news.
For children there is a modern play area with swings, stairs and labyrinths. The entrance to the territory is made only with the guest card, so the children here are allowed to walk without fear.
The location allows walking to the famous temple, where the organ is installed and concerts are held. Also nearby is the picturesque ancient Lake Inkit, which is rich in fish.
The sandy beach is mixed with pebbles here, but this does not spoil the impression, but creates an additional massage effect. Walk to the territory for about 5 minutes through a pine grove. Since the beach is urban, there is no infrastructure as such, but the hotel issues special beach mats, and an umbrella can be purchased on site.
Hotel Sharmat
A budget hotel with 18 rooms, which has 3 stars in terms of service. All the affairs here are run by the owner personally, so the staff does the work with an especially high quality. The attitude towards the guests is friendly and professional, the staff will help with any issue – from changing linen to organizing an excursion.
The rooms have simple and inexpensive furniture and appliances, but the rooms are monitored, updated and cleaned regularly. Many people note excellent sound insulation, so mothers with babies and one-year-old babies, resting during the day, can be calm.
Sharmat offers guests only continental breakfast in the form of cereals, cuts, pastries, eggs and drinks, but the good selection of nearby establishments will keep any family member hungry for lunch and dinner. There is also a separate area on the territory where you can cook your own food on your own.
To the beach 10 minutes leisurely walk along the picturesque paths. The beach is pebbly and sandy, clean, not crowded. The main contingent of holidaymakers is families with small children, who are attracted by a convenient entry into the sea and clear calm water. During the day, a wooden cafe is open, which in the evenings turns into a mini-disco for children and adults.
A quiet harbor
A small hotel with 10 rooms in a secluded place in the village of Ldzaa justifies its name not only by its location, but also by rather strict rules that you will most likely like if you are looking for a hotel in Abkhazia for an economical vacation with children. Here is a closed guarded area, safe for kids to walk on their own, noisy companies after 23:00 are not welcome.
On the territory there are places for recreation with gazebos and barbecues, a tangerine garden, a modern children’s playground and bicycle rental. Unfortunately, the parking lot is very small, so it is worth checking the availability in advance.
Standard economy rooms are simple and bright, but they are cleaned quite rarely – on average once a week. Furniture is relatively new, linen and towels are free of stains. Baby accessories must be agreed with the owners in advance.
“Tikhaya Gavan” does not provide meals, but there is a good kitchen on the 1st floor, where guests can cook their own meals. The only problem is that when the hotel is full, a decent line of people who want to eat can form. There are many shops and markets nearby, so it is not difficult to buy groceries. If you do not plan to cook, there are many places in the area for every wallet.
Small pebble beach, secluded and very clean. You will have to walk about a kilometer to it. The road is not paved, which can cause inconvenience for guests with strollers and babies.
Island
This is not a four-star hotel, and even less a 5-star hotel, but judging by the photos and videos of vacationers, it is unusual here, quite comfortable and excellent value for money. The “Island” is best suited for a family vacation for two or with older children, since accommodation in a hotel is possible only from 2 years old, and it is not very convenient to relax with babies here.
The hotel complex consists of 12 bamboo bungalows on the shore of a lake that does not get warm even in summer, so it is always cool from the water in this place. Many guests refer to this accommodation as a camping, although the cabins have all the amenities, from carpeted floors to an equipped bathroom, where hot water is supplied without interruption.
From entertainment on the territory there is an opportunity to play billiards, ping-pong and badminton, there is a bar and a restaurant with an open terrace, where in the evenings guests gather together, creating an atmosphere of calm friendly gatherings.
Unfortunately, there is no heated pool with water slides, but who needs it when a beautiful lake with an island in the center is spread out right under the windows, where you can ride on catamarans. There are also bike rentals and horseback riding in the surrounding area.
The innovation of the hotel is a complex two meals a day. The restaurant specializes in European and Abkhaz cuisine. On request, the chefs can prepare special children’s, vegetarian or diet meals.
The city beach, small-pebbled, is within a couple of kilometers, although the distance is not too great for walking. The territory is clean, uncrowded, it will be comfortable here with children.
Black Sea Riviera
Nice boarding house on the first line for an inexpensive holiday with the whole family. The hotel is located almost in the center, so guests get walking access to both the pebble and sandy beach and the main tourist routes, shops and transport, which is suitable for independent travel around the country.
Accommodation here is offered in separate cottage houses with all amenities. The rooms have everything you need, but the furniture is no longer new and sometimes requires repair and renovation, and the refrigerator is only in the rooms of the “luxury” category. Children are accepted even for infants, and all the accessories for their accommodation are discussed when booking rooms.
Guests can relax by the pool and play water polo, there is a barbecue area and a summer cafe. Board games are available for free. The administration provides assistance in organizing any excursions for those who wish.
The food here is very high quality: the food is homemade and the portions are large. In all the reviews, tourists note that this is the best place in the vicinity to eat deliciously.
The staff is very open and friendly, always ready to help and actively listen to comments and requests, try to quickly eliminate shortcomings and provide all possible assistance.
The beach is five minutes away. Everywhere is clean, there are sun loungers and umbrellas, and the nearby pine trees provide excellent shade on especially hot days. It is almost ideal for swimming for children, thanks to the calm clear sea with a gentle entrance and pleasant massage from barefoot walks.
