Sabiha Gokcen International Airport is the second most important airport in Istanbul. It is located in the Asian part, 50 km southeast of the center of Istanbul, 40 km from Kadikoy, 12 km from Pendik and 50 km from Taksim.

The airport was put into operation on October 31, 2009 (before that there were two small terminals, not suitable for international flights). It was named in honor of the country’s first female military pilot, who was also one of the adopted daughters of the first president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. It was built to relieve the currently closed Ataturk Airport (replaced by the new Istanbul Airport).
Sabiha Gokcen Airport has an area of 200,000 sq. m. Basically, low-cost airlines are based here, for example, Sun Express or Pegasus Airlines. However, it should be noted that there are still a lot more flights to Istanbul Airport. The arrivals area is located on the first floor, the departure area is on the second. On the right is the area for international flights, on the left – for local ones.

Passenger traffic is growing steadily every year. In 2015, it transported 18.5 million passengers.
The airport terminal has four parking lots, which can accommodate about 4,718 cars and 72 buses (3,836 indoors, 882 cars and 72 buses on the street)
There is also the ISG Airport Hotel with 128 rooms, adjacent to the terminal and with separate entrances.

How to get from Sabiha airport to the hotel
Buses
1. Sultanahmet, Fatih.
Buses MR60 and 132H go from the airport to the Pendik railway station, from where the Marmaray train departs. You can take it directly to Sultanahmet, you need to get off at the Sirkeci station. Nearby there is a tram stop for the T1 line. You can also get to Yenikapı Station, where you can change trains on the M1 and M2 metro lines.
If you are not in a hurry, you can take the Havabus bus to Kadikoy pier (city buses E-10 and E-11 go there. They are cheaper, but take longer.), And then cross by ferry that goes to Eminenu pier. In the immediate vicinity of the pier there is a train station Marmaray – Sirkeci, tram stop T1.
2. Aksaray, Yenikapy.
Buses MR60 and 132H to Pendik railway station. Then take the Marmaray train to Yenikapı station. More details on the link.
3. Taksim, Beyoglu, Besiktas, Shishli.
Every half hour, buses from the private company Havabus (formerly Havatas) run from Sabiha Airport to Taksim. The fare is 24 lira.
Then you can take the metro or city bus.
4. New airport Istanbul.
Bus route HVIST-13 runs between Sabiha and Istanbul airports. Travel time is 1.5 hours. The fare is 43 lira.

When arriving in Istanbul, it should be borne in mind that Sabiha Gokcen Airport is not as convenient and close as the main one – Istanbul Airport. Therefore, we recommend ordering a transfer from the airport.
