The largest Ferris wheel in Africa will be built in Egypt

Egypt is now one of the few resort destinations, so the country tries to surprise guests as much as possible. So, recently a new attraction for tourists was launched in Hurghada – a boat trip with a transparent bottom, and next year the largest Ferris wheel on the mainland will open in Cairo.

The Cairo Eye will become not only the largest Ferris wheel in Africa, but also the fifth largest in the world. The height of the wheel is 120 m (to match a 40-storey skyscraper!). Visitors will be lifted by 48 booths, which can simultaneously accommodate six to eight people.

The facility will be located on the banks of the Nile in the Zamalek region. In clear weather, visitors will be able to admire the views of Cairo at a distance of up to 50 km and, if they are lucky, see famous sights from a height.

The project provides for the construction of not only a Ferris wheel, but also an entire entertainment complex. Restaurants, cafes, shops and a theater will appear around the attraction. The recreation area will occupy about 20,000 square meters.

The authors of the project also paid attention to environmental aspects. All existing trees will be preserved, moreover, their number will even increase. Transport accessibility has also been thought out: special buses will run, and a private car can be left in the parking lot. 500 million Egyptian pounds (more than 2 billion rubles) have been allocated for the implementation of projects.

Cairo Eye will welcome its first guests in 2022. It is expected to be visited by 2.5 million people a year. The ticket price, depending on the season, will be from 250 to 350 Egyptian pounds (1200-1700 rubles).
